This is truly a great laptop. I love it and would buy it again in a second.I wanted a computer that I could use at my desk and also take with me to customer sites. We design and build automation for factories. We use high-end 3-D design software that requires a lot of compute power. This laptop is amazingly fast -- boots up in seconds and runs heavy-duty applications really fast and well. The screen is large and beautiful. The HDMI port allows the use of an external screen but you might find you are fine without one. The laptop itself is large and heavy. Feels rugged and high-quality but a bit heavy to lug. I am willing to carry it to get the power I need and the large screen. The power supply that came with the unit is large, heavy and bulky. I guess that is what it takes to get all that compute power. The power cord is rigid and does not fold easily. Fortunately it can be unplugged. I bought a more supple replacement for $6 and it makes packing the unit much easier.I bought the docking station -- a mistake. The docking station is useless and does not do a single thing that a second power supply would not do. The docking station requires two power supplies -- one for itself and one to pass power through to the laptop. The extra USB ports on the dock don't work unless you go through the effort of installing special software. Save yourself that money and instead just buy a second power supply and, if you need it, a USB hub.
I've never been disappointed with the build quality of the the business level thinkpads. Solid, quick, built to last. Coming from a w520 thinkpads that's still working great this is very much the same.n gone is the removable battery but everything is now accessible from the bottom metal panel which honestly adds more stability vs the removable battery design. I had missed the lenovos when I had gotten a surface pro 3 as the thinkpads were made for work and to work not to be cute. I've had no issues with this laptop in the last 2 months nor do I expect to (Lenovo warranty is there if it did).Specs are solid, with an SSD it's as fast as i want in a business machine and it even plays overwatch and other games just fine. This is also not a light machine, which is likely why you are buying it. Giant screen I use for Excel as well as the number pad on the right. Keyboard feels great and I can type quickly on it as it has a great feel to it. No regrets on this purchase.
Big heavy solidly built workstation. Used a splitter to make the home office a dual 27 inch monitor affair. Everything was plug and play. Keyboard is solid and feels nice. Lots of USB for legacy dvd drive and other accessories along with wireless mouse keyboard. I did buy a rolling cart and was glad to have it on a trip. Mobile warrior: very fast, plenty of disk space.
